Arts Trail

It’s that time of the year again where the textile guru as we call her Miss Megan Crook holds her open Designer studio, the open Designer studio is an event where not only her self but other local creative talent also get to show case there work to the open public. Speaking from a Designers point of view the open designer studio is a brilliant idea and I’m lucky enough to have been apart of it for the last two years. I’ve gained experience and knowledge from it most importantly, as well as selling my designs and accessories.
Not only that as soon as you walk into the crooked-house you smile its so capturing and welcoming and instantly you know someone creative lives there, you may not what that person does right away but you know that person is someone incredibly creative.

The open Designer studio has now expanded to a mini Arts trail, with me and my business partners Eliza Cole and Marlon Brown recently opening a boutique right round the corner from the crooked-house and bar one being just down the road its formed a perfect trail for art! At ElizaLeren Boutique we are a little crazy, very different but most importantly unique. Both Me and Eliza have a mad passion for recycling and upcycling and making anything out of something. We’re both very quirky and different people and this shows through our work. Sometimes we don’t make things just so people can wear them to me that’s not what being a designer is all about its about change and having the balls to be your self and to follow your own rules I can speak for my self here.  We like to think outside the box…no matter how big that box may be.
The team at the crooked-house has managed to get quite a few creative people on board to sell and showcase there work, the talent varies from handmade bath and beauty products to pottery, portrait artist to delicious cake making. All in all it’s a brilliant idea to bring creative people together. You see, the great thing about being creative and being around other creative people is that although you might not be in the same ‘creative industry’ but we all share the same love and the passion.

Check out the event here.
