For my new Collection, I've gathered my inspiration from, Pop Art such as
Andy Warhol and
Roy Lichenstein I've also looked at the famous Artist
Mark Rothko for block colours, he's famous for his block colour prints such as
Violet Centre, which hangs nicely in my living room. I particularly don't like it when you see too much of the same colour in one outfit, such as a red top, red bottoms and red shoes. I mean come on who does that!!?? Or when you find if you're making something and you're main colour is green so everything else has to be a different shade of green, it's boring there's no excitement and what usually happens is the main thing you're trying to sell just gets eaten up because everything around it is the same colour-way so you're attention is focused on everything else not what you want the audience to be focused on.
This collection is called '
POP Goes the Print' for a reason, When you look at POP Art its all mixed bright colours, they draw you in because they're exciting. The concept of POP Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it. I brought Mark Rothko in to my inspiration and to my collection because he is a great reference to look at when looking at what block colours really work together.
I'm
really excited to see this collection finished and photographed, I've
gave my self till the end of June to get this collection finished. Bring
it on...
